Duane Kelley is a litigation partner in Winston & Strawn’s Chicago office who concentrates his practice in commercial, insurance coverage, antitrust, and white-collar criminal litigation.
Mr. Kelley is a veteran litigator with considerable experience in a variety of areas, including shareholder class actions and derivative suits, and white-collar criminal matters involving mail fraud, tax fraud, RICO, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. In the antitrust area, he has tried many major criminal cases and has handled over 50 grand jury investigations. Mr. Kelley has been a member of the Federal Defender Panel and has tried several criminal cases as part of that panel. He also served as outside litigation counsel for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co., and was lead counsel on its behalf in litigation arising out of the Great Chicago Flood. Mr. Kelley tried the first consummated merger case brought by the FTC in over 15 years, FTC v. Chicago Bridge & Iron. Recently he was lead trial counsel in the FTC challenge of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare's merger with Highland Park Hospital.
Honors and Awards
Mr. Kelley is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Activities
Mr. Kelley is a past president of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association and was a member of the Seventh Circuit Advisory Committee on Circuit Rules.
Education
Mr. Kelley received a B.A., with high distinction, from DePauw University in 1969, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1972, where he was an editor of the Law Review.
