Winston & Strawn values its entire staff and offers an excellent benefits package* to meet individual needs. All regular employees scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours per week are given the opportunity to participate. Dependent and domestic partner coverage is also available.
Medical Insurance
Winston & Strawn offers a choice of two types of medical plans:
- The Winston & Strawn PPO Plan — The Preferred Provider Option (PPO) plan allows employees to direct their own care by choosing an in-network or out-of-network provider at the time they seek care. Employees have the option of choosing from three deductible levels.
- The Winston & Strawn In-Network Plan — The In-Network Only Plan allows you to direct your own care for all visits, including specialists, while utilizing only in-network providers. You are required to pay only small copay amounts and there is no deductible to satisfy.
Vision coverage is included with both medical plans.
Dental Insurance
The firm offers a comprehensive dental plan, as a separate election from the medical plan. You may choose an in-network or out-of-network dentist at the time you seek care. Our plan offers coverage for preventive, basic, major and orthodontia services.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Winston & Strawn offers both health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts (FSAs). These accounts allow employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for medical, dental, vision and child care expenses not covered by other plans.
Long-Term Care Insurance
Winston & Strawn offers long term care coverage to help defray the costs of long term or continuing care for employees or their covered dependents. This is a voluntary plan offered to employees, their spouses, parents, grandparents, and in-laws under the age of 80.
Life Insurance
Winston & Strawn provides employees with life and accidental death and dismemberment coverage. The benefit amount is equal to one times the employee's annual salary to a maximum benefit of $250,000. Additionally, employees may elect to purchase supplemental life coverage up to six times their annual salary. Supplemental life insurance also is available to be purchased for spouses or domestic partners.
Disability Insurance
The firm provides both short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) insurance. Employees are eligible for STD after one year of employment. The benefit amount is determined by the employee's years of service at the time of disability.
LTD benefits are payable after disability lasts for at least 180 days. The benefit is equal to 60 percent of the employee's base salary and continues for the duration of the disability or until the employee reaches age 65.
Transportation Benefits
This benefit allows employees to pay for qualified parking expenses and mass transit expenses with pre-tax dollars. Participation in this program allows for reduced tax liability and increased after-tax take home pay. Employees can elect to participate in both the mass transit and the parking programs.
Savings and Retirement Plans
- Employee Savings Plan — 401(k)
All employees scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours a week are eligible to enroll in the plan immediately. The 401(k) offers the opportunity to save for long-term needs while at the same time reducing the amount of pay subject to federal income tax.
All employees scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours a week are eligible for this benefit after completion of at least two years of service. This benefit offers the opportunity to share in firm profits on a tax-deferred basis and is designed to assist in planning for retirement.
Paid Time Off
Winston & Strawn believes employees need time for rest and relaxation, and encourages employees to use vacation time that is accrued on a monthly basis. Sick/personal days, firm holidays, and floating holidays are also provided to allow employees flexibility in the event of illness or pressing personal responsibilities.
